La Gloria

Located in the Argentine Pampas, the breeding area lies within the pampean grasslands, where thistle, clover, and eucalyptus blooms combine with alfalfa and sunflower crops.

Ligustica queens are bred under the direction of PhD in Beekeeping Management, Tomás Bragulat, who leads a genetic selection program that began eight years ago.

Genetic monitoring is carried out regularly using PCR techniques.

The process involves rotating orphan hives, where larvae from the F0 mother queen are grafted. Subsequently, semi-orphan hives are used to continue the development of the future queen.

Once the royal cell has fully matured, either incubators or direct introductions into mating nuclei are used for mating.

The breeding farm has approximately 400 mating nuclei, using frames measuring 18.5 × 11 mm.

The peak production season runs from October to March/April.
