Based in Aulum, in the Central Jutland region, we began our specialized Buckfast breeding farm in 2012. Before that, we had already produced mated queens from breeder lines of Carnica and Buckfast previously acquired.

We started our journey in beekeeping with Knud Hvam, and today, with pride, we are Nordic Buckfast, led by Mathias Hvam and Per From. We focus on the production of queen cells, virgin queens, mated queens, and pure Buckfast lines mated on the island of Venø. This fully controlled environment has enabled us to make significant progress in our Buckfast genetic line.

We supply the local European market and also export to Argentina through a collaborative process with Buckfast Argentina, run by Roberto Pedersen Halager.

At Nordic Buckfast, we breed pure F0 queens that are sent to Argentina in September. There, Buckfast Argentina handles their reproduction, allowing us to have mated queens of our genetics ready early in the season in Denmark, around May 1st each year.
